Loss of possession

Statutory text
A possessor may lose his possession: 1. By abandonment; 2. By transfer in favour of another, under a title with or without consideration; 3. By destruction or loss of the thing or when the same is excluded from commerce; 4. By possession of another, even against the wishes of the former possessor, if the new possession has lasted for more than one year. § Sole paragraph - The year starts from the time when new possession was taken openly, or, if it is taken clandestinely, from the time it comes to the knowledge of the dispossessed.
