Impediments to civil marriage

The following shall, not contract marriage: 1. Relatives by consanguinity or affinity in a direct line; 2. Relatives in the second degree in a collateral line; 3. Relatives in the third degree in a collateral line except if they obtain exemption; 4. Males below the age of fourteen years and females below the age of twelve years; 5. Those joined by another marriage, not yet dissolved. § Sole paragraph - The exemption referred to in clause 3 shall be granted by the Government if there are ponderous reasons.
