Duties of usufructuary of herds and flocks

If the usufruct consists of a herd or flock of animals, the usufructuary shall be bound to replace by new born animals, the heads which for any reason may be missing. § 1 - If the animals perish totally or in part due to fortuitous circumstances without giving birth to others who replace them, the usufructuary shall be bound to return only the remaining heads. § 2 - The usufructuary shall however be liable for the remains of the animals if such remains have been put to use.
