Grant of variance, and constitution of Empowered Committee and manner of functioning thereof.

(1) For the purposes of this chapter, "to grant a variance" shall mean to grant permission to dispense with the provisions of any specific rules in this behalf (2) The power to grant a variance or to revoke a variance shall vest on an Empowered Committee to be constituted by the State Government. (3) The Empowered Committee shall consist of the Chief Municipal Officer, who shall be the Chairman, and such other members, not exceeding seven, having such qualifications as may be prescribed, to be nominated by the State Government. (4) The Empowered Committee shall function in such manner as may be prescribed.
