Compost
The Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973Compost-When the State government so requires, it shall be the duty of the Board to subject all offensive matter, rubbish and sewage to the process of making compost manure. For this purpose the Board at a meeting shall draw up a scheme for providing sufficient trenching grounds and taking other step as may be advised by the Agriculture Department of Government from time to time. The Local Officer of the Agriculture Department not below the rank of an Inspector, if required by the Board, may attend the meetings of the Board, when discussing this matter, to render such help as may be required by the Board in drawing the Scheme. The Board at a meeting may also set up an Advisory Committee consisting of such numbers of members of the Board as it may think fit and may also include in the said Committee any local Agriculture Officer of the status heretofore mentioned. When the is required to undertake compost making, it shall be the duty of the Board to see that the entire collection of offensive matter, rubbish and sewage are disposed of in no other way than in the preparation of compost manure.
