Political parties barred to contest election

A-“Political parties barred to contest election”-No person shall be allowed to contest a municipal election on the ticket or the symbol of a political party recognized by the Election Commission of India”. Note: Section 15-A was inserted by the Meghalaya Municipal (Amendment) Act 2000 (Act No. 6 of 2000), published in the Gazette of Meghalaya dated 4th April, 2000.
