Societies to which the Act applies

This Act shall apply to the societies which have been formed for all or any of the following purposes- (one) For the promotion of science, education, literature or fine arts, (two) For the dissemination of useful knowledge, (three) For the dissemination of political education, (four) For the establishment or maintenance of libraries or reading rooms which remain open to the public or for the general use of members, (five) For the establishment and maintenance of galleries of paintings and other works of art, (six) For the establishment and maintenance of public museums, (seven) For the collection of natural science, mechanical and philosophical inventions, instruments or designs, (eight) For the promotion of social welfare, (nine) For the promotion of religious or charitable purposes, which include the welfare of military orphans, the welfare of political sufferers and the welfare of such persons and the establishment of funds, (ten) For the promotion of physical education, (eleven) The promotion and implementation of various schemes sponsored by the State Government or the Central Government, (twelve) The promotion of commerce, industry and Khadi.
