Compelling, attendance of witness Compelling attendance of witness.— The revenue officers acting under this Code may enforce the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents or other material objects in the same manner as is provided in the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, for the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents, and the provisions of that Code relating to the service of summons shall, as far as may be, apply, and every person required so to attend or to produce documents shall be deemed to be legally bound to do so within the meaning of Sections 175 and 176 of the Indian Penal Code.
