Purchase on nominal bid

Purchase on nominal bid.— On the occasion of a sale of immovable property under this Chapter, if there is no bidder or if the highest bid made at such sale is not sufficient to cover the amount of the arrear of land revenue and the expenses of sale, the Collector may purchase the property for an amount equal to the amount of the arrear and expenses, or for a nominal sum, as he may deem fit; and thereupon the property shall vest in the Government, free from all encumbrances.
