Executive Council

(1) The Executive Council shall consist of the following, namely:- (a) The Vice-Chancellor - Chairperson; (b) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, if any; (c) The Principal Secretary/Secretary of the Higher Education Department of the State Government; (d) The Principal Secretary/Secretary of the Finance Department of the State Government; (e) Two Deans of Faculty in rotation in the prescribed manner; (f) One Professor representing the faculties of the University to be selected in the prescribed manner; (g) Three members of the Court nominated by the Chancellor, none of whom shall be an employee of the University; (h) Three nominated persons of the Chancellor who shall be intellectual persons from fields like industry, management, higher education, science and technology. (2) The Executive Council shall be the executive body of the University and, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall have the following powers, namely:- (a) To declare the policies to be adopted by the University; (b) To hold and keep control over the property and funds of the University; (c) To review the decisions of other authorities of the University to see whether they are in accordance with the provisions; (d) To approve the budget and annual report of the University; (e) To recommend new or additional Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations or to amend or repeal the previous Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations or Rules of the University; (f) To approve proposals to be sent to the State Government; (g) To make such decisions and take steps as are found desirable for the effective implementation of the objectives of the University; Provided that the first members of the Executive Council shall be nominated by the Chancellor and they shall hold office for a period of three years. (3) There shall be at least three meetings of the Executive Council in a year at such time and place as the Vice-Chancellor deems fit.
