Naming and numbering of street and premises.

(1) A Municipality may— (a) give a name or a number to every public street ; (b) determine the number or sub-number by which any premises or part thereof shall be known ; and (c) require the owner of any premises or part thereof, by a written notice, to put up a plate showing the number or sub-number or such premises or part in such position and manner as may be specified in such notice. (2) Any person, who destroys, pulls down or defaces any such name or number of a public street or puts up a number or sub-number different from that determined by the Municipality shall, on conviction, be punished with a fine which may extend to one thousand rupees.
