Power to require ruinous structure to be removed or repaired

If any building, wall or structure or anything fixed thereto, or any bank or tree is deemed by the local authority to be in a ruinous state or in any way dangerous, the local authority may, by notice, require the owner or occupier thereof forthwith either to remove the same or to cause such repairs to be made to the building wall, structure, thing, bank or tree as the local authority may consider necessary for the public safety and, if it appears to the local authority to be necessary in order to prevent imminent danger, the local authority shall forthwith take such steps at the expence of the owner or occupier as are necessary to avert the danger.
