Power to require untenanted buildings to be secured

Statutory text
- (1) The local authority may, by notice, require the owner, or co-owner or any person claiming to be the owner, or co-owner of any building or land which, by reaon of abandonment or disputed ownership or other cause remains untenanted and thereby becomes a resort of idle and disorderly persons or otherwise a nuisance, to secure or enclose the same within a resonable time specified in the notice.
- (2) If any building or any well, tank, reservior, pool, depression or excavation is for want of sufficient repair protection or enclosure, dangerous to persons passing by or dwelling or working therein or in the neighbourhood, the local authority may, by notice, require the owner or the occupier thereof to repair, protect or enclose the same; and if it appears to the local authority to be necessary in order to prevent imminent danger, the local authority shall at the expense of the owner or occupier forthwith take such steps to avert the danger as may be necessary.
