Term of Office or Pradhan etc.

(1) The term of office of a Gaon Panchayat, a Pradhan and Up-Pradhan, Members of Gaon Panchayat and Panches of Circle Panchayat shall be three years from the date of their respective elections or if the Chief Commissioner, for reasons recorded so declares by Notification in the official Gazette, such longer term not exceeding 5 years as may be specified. (2) The declaration under sub-rule (1) may be published at any time before the expiry of three years aforesaid or where the period has been extended before the expiry of such extended period.
