Method of service within jurisdiction
The Delhi Panchayat Raj Act, 1954The summons or notice shall be served by delivery to the person concerned whose signatures or thumb-impression shall be taken on its duplicate copy. If the person concerned cannot be found or if it appears that he is evading service, the Sarpanch or a Panch may order that the summons or notice may be served on an adult male member of his family residing with him or affixed in presence of two witnesses to some conspicuous part of the house in which the person ordinarily resides. The summons and notice shall thereupon be deemed to have been served on the person concerned. In case the summons or notice cannot be served in the manner contemplated as above, or as provided under Rule 165, the Panchayati Adalat may cause it to be published in a newspaper having local circulation. On publication the summons or notice shall be deemed to have been served on the person concerned.
