Composition of the Board

(1) The State Police Board shall have the following as its members namely- (a) the Chief Minister as its Chairperson; (b) the Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly; (c) a retired High Court Judge; (d) the Chief Secretary; (e) the Secretary in charge of the Home Department; (f) the Secretary in charge of the Finance Department; (g) the Secretary in charge of the Social Welfare & Empowerment Department; (h) the Director General of Police as its Member secretary; and (i) three non-political persons of proven reputation for integrity and competence to be appointed on the recommendation of the Selection Panel constituted under Section 41. (2) The composition of the Board shall reflect adequate gender and minority representation. (3) No serving government employee shall be appointed as an Independent Member. (4) Any vacancy in the State Police Board shall be filled up as soon as practicable, but not later than three months after the seat has fallen vacant.
