Definitions
The Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University Act, 2004In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University; (b) "Affiliated College" means a college which has been granted affiliation by the University; (c) "Autonomous College" means a college which has been granted autonomy by the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act; (d) "Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies of the University; (e) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University; (f) "College" means an institution admitted to the privileges of the University or maintained by or affiliated to the University; (g) "Department" means a department of study of the University; (h) "Director" means the Head of an institution or school of studies of the University; (i) "Executive Council" means the Executive Council of the University; (j) "Institution" means an academic institution, not being a college, maintained by or admitted to the privileges of the University; (k) "Principal" means the head of a college; (l) "Registrar" means the Registrar of the University; (m) "Statutes", "Ordinance" and "Regulations" means respectively the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University for the time being in force; (n) "Student" means a person enrolled in the University for undergoing a course of study for a degree, diploma or other academic distinction; (o) "Teacher" means a Professor, Reader, Lecturer or such other person as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research in the University or in any college or institution maintained by the University; (p) "University" means the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University; (q) "University Grants Commission" means the University Grants Commission established under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (No. 3 of 1956); (r) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University; (s) "Statutory Body" means any body declared as such by the Statutes; (t) "Autonomous Institution" means an institution which has been granted autonomy by the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act; (u) "Dean" means the Dean of a Faculty of the University; (v) "Management" means the trustees or the managing body of any society or trust or any other body of persons or individual that is responsible for the management of the affairs of a college or institution; (w) "Recognized Institution" means an institution recognised by the University for conducting research or specific academic programmes; (x) "Academic Autonomy" means a privilege of a college or institution to adopt its own syllabus and conduct its own examination within the framework of the University; (y) "Financial Autonomy" means a privilege of a college or institution to manage its own finances within the framework of the University; (z) "Administrative Autonomy" means a privilege of a college or institution to manage its own administration within the framework of the University.
