Other powers and duties of the Executive Council

("Other powers and duties of the Executive Council") Subject to the provisions of this Act and the Statutes and Ordinances, the Executive Council shall have the following powers and duties, namely:

1. (i) To hold, control and administer the property and funds of the University;
2. (ii) To enter into, vary, carry out and cancel contracts on behalf of the University;
3. (iii) To regulate and determine all matters concerning the University in accordance with this Act, the Statutes and the Ordinances;
4. (iv) To provide for the common seal of the University and provide for its safe custody;
5. (v) To administer and control the colleges and institutions maintained by the University;
6. (vi) To manage and regulate the finances, accounts, investments, property and all other administrative affairs of the University;
7. (vii) To make, amend or repeal Statutes and Ordinances in the manner prescribed by this Act;
8. (viii) To accept, manage and dispose of any trust, endowment, donation or bequest for the furtherance of the objectives of the University;
9. (ix) To appoint the officers, teachers and other employees of the University and to define their duties and conditions of service;
10. (x) To promote and coordinate the academic programmes and research activities of the University;
11. (xi) To exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by this Act, the Statutes or the Ordinances.
