Power to Impose Taxes

28. The Corporation may, from time to time at a meeting convened expressly for the purpose, subject to the provision of the Act, impose within the limits of the Corporation the following rates, taxes and fees or any of them :- (a) a rate on holdings except holdings belonging to State and Central Government situated within the limits of the Corporation assessed on their annual value; (b) a conservancy rate on the annual value of holdings; (c) a water-rate on the annual value of the holdings; (d) a tax on trades, profession and callings; (e) any other tax, rate or fees which the Corporation is empowered to impose under any law for the time being in force.
