Board's power to spend beyond approved estimates

(1) In cases requiring immediate action the Board may, without prior sanction of Government, spend, on any item of expenditure- (a) a sum not exceeding Rs. 2,000 in excess of the sum allotted for the item in the approved estimates; and (b) a sum not exceeding Rs. 3,000 on any item for which no funds are allotted for the year in the said estimates. (2) On a decision being taken by the Board under sub-section (1) the Chairman shall forthwith report to Government the circumstances which necessitate such expenditure and the manner in which the Board proposes to meet the same.
