Power to search premises and places,—
- (1) The Chief Officer of a Municipality, subject to the safeguards as may be provided in the rules in this behalf, may, search and inspect any premises or any place wherein he may have reason to believe that goods in respect of which octroi is payable under this Act. but has not been paid, have been kept.
- (2) The Chief Officer may, by written notice, require the attendance of any person whom he has reason to believe to be liable to payment of octroi. (3) The Chief Officer shall have the power to seal the premises or the place and seize any document found in the premises or the place or in the possession of such person.
