The Ordinances

The Ordinances.-

1. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, the Ordinances may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:—
   • (a) the admission of students to the University and their enrolment as such;
   • (b) the courses of study to be laid down for all degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions of the University;
   • (c) the award of the degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions of the University;
   • (d) the creation of new authorities of the University;
   • (e) the accounting policy and financial procedure;
   • (f) the conditions of the award of fellowships, scholarships, studentships, medals and prizes;
   • (g) the conduct of examinations and other tests, including the terms of office and manner of appointment and the duties of examining bodies, examiners and moderators;
   • (h) the fees to be charged for the courses of study in the University and for admission to the examinations, degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University;
     • (i) the provision of hostels for the students of the University;
   • (j) the conditions of residence, conduct and discipline of the students of the University;
   • (k) the maintenance of discipline among the employees of the University;
   • (l) the discipline of students;
   • (m) such other terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Statutes of the University; and
   • (n) any other matter which by this Act or the Statutes is to be, or may be, provided for by the Ordinances.
2. (2) The Ordinances shall be made by the Academic Council which after being approved by the Board of Management shall be submitted to the Chancellor for his approval.
3. (3) The Chancellor shall have the power to direct the Academic Council, at any time when he is not satisfied with the Ordinances, to amend the Ordinances or to make new Ordinances and the Academic Council shall comply with such direction of the Chancellor:
