Security for pavment of land revenue.- 41) In the case of every eqtate, the entire estate and the land-holder or, if there are more than one, the land-holden.. io:r~tly and severally. shall be liable for the land rcvcnit~. for (lie time hcing assessc'ci on tlic estate : Provided that, the Gwement may by notification declare that in any estate a holding or it holder shall not be liable for any part of the land revenue for the time being assessed on the estate except that part which is payable in respect of the holding.

1. (2) When there are superior and inferior land-holders in the same estate <rr in the same holding, the Inferior land holders shall, in the absence of any special order of the Governmenit to the contrary, be liable for the assessment.
