Application for reconsideration of assessment.- 41) The land-holder may, within thirty days from the date of the announcement of the assessment, present a petition to the Settlement Officer for a reconsideration of the amount, form or conditions of the assessment.

1. (2) Where the land revenue is assigned the assignee thereof may, u'ithin thirty days f~om the clate. present a like petition to the Settlement Officer.
2. (3) The drder passed by the Settlement Officer on the petition shall set fonh his rea+ons for granting or refusing it.
3. (4) Aftc. consideration of the petition under this section, if any, the Settlement Officer shall submit a report that an assessment announced by him or any officer subordinate to him together with his order an such application to the 1 [Settlement Commitsioner] \\ho sliall ~bject to the sanction of the Government approve or modify the assess-ment..
