Certain mortgagees holding property in consideration of payment of customary dues etc. to be deemed tenants

Statutory text
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any law, or in any contract, custom or usage, or in any judgment, decree or order of court, a mortgagee with possession of immovable property at the commencement of the Mahe Land Reforms (Amendment) Act, 1980, shall be deemed to be a tenant if --- (a) he was holding such property in consideration of payment of customary dues or any amount specified as michavaram in the document evidencing the transaction; or (b) there is a provision in such document for renewal on the expiry of a specified period;
