The Chancellor

Statutory text
- (1) The Governor of Maharashtra, for the time being, shall be the Chancellor of the University.
- (2) The Chancellor shall, by virtue of his office, be the head of the University and, when present, preside at any convocation of the University.
- (3) The Chancellor may call for his information any papers relating to the administration of the affairs of the University and such requisition shall be complied with by the University.
- (4) Every proposal to confer any honorary degree shall be subject to confirmation by the Chancellor.
- (5) The Chancellor may, by order in writing, annul any proceeding of any officer or authority of the University, which is not in conformity with this Act, the Statutes or the Regulations : Provided that, before making any such order, he shall call upon the officer or authority to show cause why such an order should not be made and, if any cause is shown within the time specified by him in his behalf, he shall consider the same.
- (6) The Chancellor shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are laid down by this Act and may be conferred or imposed on him by the Statutes.
