Statutory text

(1) Subject to the provisions of this Act and rules for levy made thereunder, the Metropolitan Region Development Authority shall levy a charge, hereinafter called development charge for carrying out of any development of land or building or both.
(2) The rates of development charge, their manner of assessment and recovery shall be such as may be prescribed.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), no development charge shall be leviable in case of any development undertaken on behalf of Union or State Government or local authority or Town and Country Development Authority or any Authority created under this Act.
