Village Panchayats

(1) The Government may, from time to time, empower the village panchayats to discharge any of the functions entrusted to the Government under this Act. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing provisions, the Government may entrust the village panchayats with the responsibility of constructing and maintaining small irrigation works such as tanks, tube-wells, water course and field channel and regulate supply of water therefrom.
