Statutes

Statutes. Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:—

1. (a) the conferment of honorary degrees;
2. (b) the holding of convocations to confer degrees;
3. (c) the powers and duties of the officers of the University;
4. (d) the constitution, powers and duties of the authorities of the University;
5. (e) the institution and maintenance of Departments, hostels, colleges and institutions of research;
6. (f) the conditions of recognition of colleges and institutions of research;
7. (g) the recognition of hostels;
8. (h) the mode of appointment and the duties of professors, readers, lecturers and other teachers and the academic staff of the University;
   • (i) the registration of graduates and the maintenance of a register of registered graduates;
9. (j) the procedure at meetings of the authorities of the University and for the transaction of their business;
10. (k) the award of fellowships, scholarships, exhibitions, medals and prizes;
11. (l) any other matter which is to be, or may be, prescribed by Statutes.
