Powers and functions of the University

Powers and functions of the University., The University shall have the following powers and functions, namely:,

1. (i) to provide for instruction, training and research in such branches of skill development, vocational education, technologies, entrepreneurship and related areas as the University may think fit, and to make provision for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in these fields;
2. (ii) to design, develop and conduct curriculum, courses, training programs and assessments of various durations in skill and vocational domains;
3. (iii) to hold examinations and assessments, and to confer degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions or titles on persons who have pursued a course of study or training in the University;
4. (iv) to confer honorary degrees or other distinctions in the manner prescribed;
5. (v) to establish, maintain and manage campuses, regional centres, study centres, incubation centres, and centres of excellence within the State of Tripura;
6. (vi) to collaborate, cooperate or partner with other universities, institutions, corporate bodies, industries and companies in India and abroad for curriculum design, training, research and placement;
7. (vii) to institute and award fellowships, scholarships, exhibitions, medals and prizes;
8. (viii) to create academic, administrative, technical and other posts and to make appointments thereto;
9. (ix) to determine, demand and receive fees and other charges as may be prescribed;
10. (x) to establish and maintain halls and hostels, and to supervise and control the residence, conduct and discipline of students;
11. (xi) to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of property, movable or immovable, including trust and endowed property, for the purposes of the University;
12. (xii) to borrow money, with the approval of the Government, on the security of the property of the University;
13. (xiii) to receive grants, donations, benefactions and transfers of properties from Government, corporate bodies, foundations, individuals or any other source;
14. (xiv) to make Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations and Rules for the administration and governance of the University; and
15. (xv) to do all such other acts and things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objects of the University.
