Definitions

Definitions., In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,

1. (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University;
2. (b) "appointed date" means the date appointed under sub-section

1. (3) of section 1;
   • (c) "Board of Governors" means the Board of Governors of the University;
   • (d) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University;
   • (e) "Dean" means the Dean of a School of the University;
   • (f) "department" means a department of study of the University;
   • (g) "employee" means any person appointed by the University and includes teachers and other staff of the University;
   • (h) "Government" means the State Government of Tripura;
     • (i) "hall" means a unit of residence or of corporate life for the students of the University;
   • (j) "industry" means any business, trade, undertaking, manufacture or calling of employers and includes any calling, service, employment, handicraft, or industrial occupation or avocation of workmen;
   • (k) "institution" means an academic institution, center, or other unit of the University;
   • (l) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette;
   • (m) "prescribed" means prescribed by Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations or Rules made under this Act;
   • (n) "Registrar" means the Registrar of the University;
   • (o) "school" means a school of study of the University;
   • (p) "State" means the State of Tripura;
   • (q) "Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Regulations" mean respectively the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University for the time being in force;
   • (r) "teacher" means a Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and such other person as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research or skill training in the University; "University" means the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Skill University, Tripura, established and incorporated under section 3;
   • (t) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
