Statutory text
  1. (1) The Academic Council shall be the principal academic body of the University and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes and the Ordinances, coordinate and exercise general supervision over the academic policies of the University.
  2. (2) The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:-
    • (a) the Vice-Chancellor, who shall be the Chairperson;
    • (b) the Deans of Faculties;
    • (c) the Directors of Schools;
    • (d) the Heads of Departments;
    • (e) two professors of the University, to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor by rotation;
    • (f) two associate professors of the University, to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor by rotation;
    • (g) two assistant professors of the University, to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor by rotation;
    • (h) three experts in the field of skill development or vocational education, to be nominated by the Chancellor; and
      • (i) the Registrar, who shall be the Member-Secretary.
  3. (3) The term of office of the nominated members of the Academic Council shall be three years.
