Power and function of University.

Chapter 1 PRELIMINARY
Statutory text
Without prejudice to the generality of the following provision of the foregoing provisions, the University shall have the following power and function:
- (i) To provide for instructions, teaching and training in all branches of study and particularly for research, advancement and dissemination of knowledge through establishment of institutes, departments, schools, faculties and other centers of excellence;
- (ii) To hold examination and to grant and confer certificates, diplomas, degrees and other academic distinction on those who pass the examinations, to confer honorary distinctions on men and women of eminence and to withdraw the certificates, diplomas etc, from those who had been conferred for good and sufficient reasons.
- (iii) To transfer the university into the Centre of Excellence particularly in the field of Science, Health sciences, Liberal & Fine Arts, Commerce, Law, Technical, Technology, Interfaith Religious Education management Social Work Environment Science, etc;
- (iv) To maintain and manage the physical and financial assets of the University in the most affected manner with a view to promoting the purposes of the University. wv) To appoint professors, associate professor, assistant professors, readers, lecturers and others connected with teaching with a view to imparting instructions of very high standard;
- (vi) To establish all physical amenities conducive to the most effected learning by the students enrolled with the University;
- (vii) Toinstate fellowships, scholarships, prizes, medals, etc. with a view to promoting research and motivating study;
- (viii) To collaborate, cooperate and act jointly with other organization, institutions, Universities etc. within and outside India, particularly in the fields of Medical Education, Engineering, Technology, Environment Science, Law and Religion Education, Fine Arts etc. for strengthening research and improving the quality of instructions to students;
- (ix) To disseminate knowledge through seminar, conference, executive, education programmes, community development programmes, publication And training programmes; x) To provide consultancy to industry, Government and Public Organizations;
- (xi) To establish and maintain within the premises of the University or elsewhere, such class rooms, study halls as the University may consider necessary and to adequately furnish the same;
- (xii) To receive grants, subscriptions, donation and gifts for the purpose of the university and consistent with the objects for which the University is established;
- (iii) To purchase, take on lease or accept as gift or otherwise any land or building or works which may be necessary or convenient for the purpose of the University on such terms and conditions as the University may deem fit, and to construct or alter and maintain any such building or works;
- (xiv) To execute conveyances, transfer re-conveyances, mortgages, lease licenses and agreement in respect of property, movable or immovable, including security belonging to the University or to acquire the same for the purpose of the University;
- (xv) To enter into agreements with organization which may include the Central Government, the State Government, the University Commission or other authority for receiving grants;
- (xvi) To accept grants of money, security or property of any kind on such terms and condition a may be deemed expedient;
- (xvii) To raise and borrow money on mortgages, promising notes or on other obligations or security based upon all or any of the prosperities and assets of the university with or without any security and upon such terms and condition as it may deemed fit and to payout of the fund of the university, 441- all expenditure incidental to the raising of the money and to repay and redeem any money borrowed;
- (xvii) To invest the funds of the University or money entrusted to the university in other such securities and in such as it may deemed fit and from time to time transpose any instrument; and
- (xix) To do all other acts as the University may consider necessary that are conductive or incidental to the attainment and promotion of the aforesaid objectives. ?) The Chancellor shall be responsible for the distribution of the aforesaid powers and functions of the University amongst the officers, councils committee boards and other authority of the University in accordance with the provisions of this act for carrying out the objectives of the University.
