Inthis Act unless the context otherwise requires, the following words shall have

Short title and commencement 1. () TheActmay be called the North East Christian University Act 2012.

1. (ii) It shall come into force on the date appointed by the State Government by notification in the Office Gazette. Definitions

the meaning assigned herein:

1. (1) “Academic Council” means the Academic Council of the University;
2. (2) “Board Of Studies” means the Board of Studies constituted under this Act;
3. (3) “Chancellor” means the Chancellor or the University;
4. (4) “Director” means a Director of University;
5. (5) “Executive Council” means Executive Council of the University
6. (6) “Finance Committee” means Finance Committee of the University
7. (7) “Finance Officer” means Finance Office of the University
8. (8) “Fund” means the Funds of the University and includes funds fora sponsored scheme.
9. (9) “Governing Council” means the Governing Council of the University;
10. (10) “Governor” means the Governor of Nagaland;
11. (11) “Notification” means notification published in the Official Gazette of the ) Government of Nagaland;
12. (12) “Pro-Chancellor” means the Pro-Chancellor of the University;
13. (13) “Registrar” means the Registrar of the University;
14. (14) “Regulation” means a regulation made under this Act;
15. (15) “Schedule” means a schedule of this Act;
16. (16) “State Government” means the State Government of Nagaland;
17. (17) “UGC” means University Grants Commission constituted under the University Grants Commission Grant, Act, 1956
18. (18) “University” means the Private University by the name “The North East Christian University” establishment under this Act.
19. (19) “Vice Chancellor” means the Vice Chancellor of the University;
20. (20) “The Visitor” means the Visitor of the University; CHAPTER IT ESTABLISHMENT OBJECTIVE POWER AND FUNCTION OF UNIVERSITY.
