This Act regulates the marketing of agricultural produce in Karnataka. The Government can declare market areas and the produce to be regulated in them, and set up markets, market yards and sub-yards. Each market area has a market committee that regulates buying and selling, licenses traders and commission agents, and collects market fees, so that farmers get fair prices.
