Term of office of members of the General Council
The Hidayatullah National University of Law Chhattisgarh Act, 2003(1) The term of office of the members of the General Council except Donor members, if any, shall, subject to sub-section (2) and (3), be three years. Provided that the term of the first General Council will expire on constitution of the General Council in accordance with the provisions of this Act. (2) Where a member of the General Council becomes such member by virtue of his office, his term of office shall be terminated when he ceases to hold that office. (3) A member of the General Council may resign his office by a letter addressed to the Chairperson and such resignation is accepted by the Chairperson. (4) If a member of the General Council remains absent from three consecutive meetings without permission of the Chairperson, he shall be deemed to be no longer a member. (5) If any casual vacancy occurs in the office of any member, the vacancy shall be filled either by nomination or election by the person or body who had nominated or elected the member whose place became vacant and the person so nominated or elected shall hold office so long only as the member in whose place he is nominated or elected could have held office if the vacancy had not occurred.
