Power to acquire, Hold and dispose of property
The Tripura Panchayats Act, 1993A Garm Panchayat shall have power to acquire, hold and dispose of property and to enter into contracts : Provided that in all cases of acquisition or disposal of immovable property, the Gram Panchayat shall obtain the prior approval of the State Government. (1) Council, Cantonment constituted under any law for the time being in force: Provided that a Panchayat Samiti may have its office in any area comprised within the excluded portion of the Block. (2) Every Panchayat Samiti shall be a body corporate by the name of the Block and shall have perpetual succession and common seal and subject to such restrictions as are imposed by or under this Act or any other enactment, shall be vested with the capacity of suing or being sued in its corporate name, or acquiring, holding and transferring property, movable or immovable, whether without or within the limits of the area over which it has authority, of entering into contracts and of doing all things, necessary, proper and expedient for the purpose, for which it is constituted.
