Penalties for breach of rules made under section 26

Whoever infringes any rules made under section 26 shall be punished- (1) in any case where such infringement relates to any scheduled timber, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years and with fine which may extend to Rs. 20,000; Provided that- (a) for a first offence, the term of such imprisonment shall not be less than two years and such fine shall not be less than Rs. 7,500; (b) for second or subsequent offence, the term of such imprison -ment shall not be less than three years and such fine shall not be less than Rs. 15,000. 2. In any other case, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to Rs. 200, or with both.
