Local authorities to provide burial and burning grounds

A local authority may, subject to such rules as may be prescribed in this behalf and if so required by the Government shall provide a suitable place or places for burying, burning or otherwise disposing of the dead bodies according to different religious customs at reasonable distances from the inhabited areas. Two or more local authorities may, and if so required by the Government, shall jointly provide burial or burning grounds or other places for disposal of dead bodies.
