Duties of Gaon Panchayats

Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions contained in sections 154 and 155, the functions and duties of Gaan Panchaya~ shall include- (a) the development and improvement of agriculture and hmticultare, (b) the preservation, maintenance and development of forest and trees, (c) the maintenance and development of abadi sites and village communications, (d) the management of hats, bazars and melas. (e) the development of co-operative farming, (f) the development d animal husbandry, which includes pisciculture and poultry farming, and the deve- lophent of piggery, (g) the consolidation of holdings. (h) the development of cottage industries; (i) the maintenance and development of fisheries, wells and tanks, and (j) such other matters as may be prescribed.
