Statutory text

(1) The additional Deputy Commissionershall be the Member Secretary of the Zilla Parishad
(2) As soon as may be after a Zilla Parishad is constituted,the Zilla Parishad shall in the prescribed manner from amongst its members a Chairperson who shall, subject to the other provisions of the Act hold office for a period of five years, with effect from such date as may be notified: by the Government.
(3) Not less than one-third of the total number of offices of Chairperson in the State shall be reserved for women : Provided that the number of offices reserved under this Section shall be allotted by rotation to different Zilla Parishads within the State in such manner as may be prescribed.
(4) If a casual vacancy occurs in the office of the Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, the persons elected in the manner specified in sub-section (2) of section 60 fill such vacancy shall hold office for the remainder of the term of the Chairperson in whose place he/she is elected.
