Maximum carrying capacity of transport vehicle.

(1) The Government may by general or special order, specify the maximum weight of the goods and the maximum number of passengers that may be carried in a transport vehicle and different weights and number of passengers may be specified for different types of transport vehicles and for different routes. (2) The weight of goods and number of passengers to be carried by a transport vehicle specified under sub-section (1) shall be displayed at a conspicuous place in or outside the vehicle. (3) Any employee who takes or allows to be taken in a transport vehicle goods or passengers in excess of the weight or number specified under sub-section (1) shall be punishable with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees.
