Powers of Panchayat Samiti to impose taxes
The Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act, 1994(1) A Panchayat Samiti may impose and levy in the prescribed manner a tax on the rent payable for the use or occupation of agriculture land, at the rate of fifty paise in a rupee of such rent, such tax being payable by the person or persons severally or jointly in cultivator possession of such land or in respect of any income therefrom.
(2) Subject to the provision of Art. 276 of the Constitution of India and to any general or special orders of the State Government, a Panchayat Samiti may also impose and levy in the prescribed manner all or any of the following taxes, namely:-
(a) a tax on such trades, callings professions and industries as may be prescribed;
(b) a primary education cess; and
(c) a tax in respect of Panchayat Samiti fairs held within the limits of its jurisdiction.
