Provincial Government may direct forfeiture of a watan

Statutory text
When any representative watandar or any deputy or substitute appointed by him is convicted by a Criminal Court not inferior to a Court of Session of any offence in the discharge of his official duties, or of any of the offences specified in the second schedule or of the abetment of any such offence, and such conviction is not subsequently reversed or quashed, the [Provincial Government] may, * * *
- (a) if the offence be committed in the discharge of his official duties or be any of those enumerated in Schedule II
- (2) to (6), direct the forfeiture of the life interest of the person convicted or if he be not the representative watandar also of the representative watandar;
- (b) if the offence is as is described in Chapter VI of the Indian Penal Code, direct the forfeiture of the whole or any part of any watan in which he has an interest.
