The Pro-Vice-Chancellor
The Jammu and Kashmir Universities Act, 1969The Pro-Vice-Chancellor.--(1) There may be a Pro-Vice-Chancellor for a University and shall be appointed by the Chancellor in consultation with the Pro-Chancellor in the manner provided for the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor. The term of office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall ordinarily be the same as that of the Vice-Chancellor and he shall receive such monthly salary not exceeding Rs. 2,000 and other facilities as the Chancellor may determine. Provided that on the expiry of the term of his office, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be eligible for re-appointment for such term as the Chancellor may, in consultation with the Pro-Chancellor, determine : Provided further that the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall not be removed from his office except by order of the Chancellor passed in consultation with the Pro-Chancellor and after he has been given an opportunity of making his representation against such removal, on grounds of incapacity or misconduct or such other grounds as may appear to the Chancellor to be contrary to the interests of the University.
