The Corporation may provide either wholly or in part for all or any of

the following matters, namely:-

1. (a) the furtherance of education including cultural and physical education;
2. (b) the establishment and maintenance of, and aid to libraries,

museums, art galleries, botanical or zoological collections;

1. (c) the establishment and maintenance of, and aid to stadia, gymnasia,

kharas and places for sports and games;

1. (d) the registration of marriages;
2. (e) the taking of a census of population;

1. (g) the providing of music or other entertainments in public places or

places of public resort and the establishment of theatres and

cinemas;

1. (h) the organisation and management of fairs and exhibitions;

(i)the construction and maintenance of-

(i)rest houses;

1. (ii) poor houses; (iii)infirmaries;
2. (iv) children's homes;
3. (v) houses for the deaf and dumb and for disabled and handicapped children;
4. (vi) shelters for destitute and disabled persons;
5. (vii) asylums for persons of unsound mind;

the public health or medical relief;

1. (m) the provision for relief to destitute and disabled persons;
2. (n) public vaccination and inoculation;

1. (0) the organization, construction, maintenance and management of

outside the Municipal area for the supply, distribution and

1. (q) the organization and management of cottage industries, handicraft

centers and sales emporia;

1. (r) the construction and maintenance of warehouses and godowns;
2. (s) the construction and maintenance of garages, sheds and stands

for vehicles and cattle biers;

Appointment of

Commissioner. Salary and allowances of Commissioner. Leave etc. of Commissioner.

Contribution by

Corporation.

1. (t) the provisions for unfiltered water supply;
2. (u) the improvement of the Municipal area in accordance with

improvement schemes approved by the Corporation;

1. (v) the provision of housing accommodation for the inhabitants of any area or for any class of inhabitants;

1. (w) the establishment and maintenance of hospitals, dispensaries and

1. (x) any measures not hereinbefore specifically mentioned, likely to

promote public safety, health, convenience or general welfare.

CHAPTER-IV

1. (2) Subject to the provision of sub-section (3) the Commissioner so

three years: Provided further that no officer who has attained the age of

superannuation, shall be appointed or continue as Commissioner.
