Statutory text

(1) The statutes shall be made, amended or repealed by the Court in the manner hereafter provided.
(2) The Court may of its own motion take up for consideration the draft of any statute: Provided that the Court shall not propose the draft of any statute or of any amendment to a statute affecting the status, powers or constitution of any authority of the University until such authority has been given an opportunity of expressing an opinion upon the proposal.
(3) The Executive Council may propose to the Court the draft of any statute to be passed by the Court and such draft shall be considered by the Court at its next meeting.
(4) The Court may approve any such draft as is referred to in sub-section
(3) and pass the statute or reject it or return it to the Executive Council for reconsideration, either in whole or in part, together with any amendments which the Court may suggest.
(5) Any member of the Court may propose to the Court the draft of any statute and the Court may either accept or reject the proposal.
