Definitions.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

1. (1) "Affiliated College" means a college affiliated to the University;
2. (2) "College" means a degree college or an affiliated college or an institution maintained by the University;
3. (3) "Degree College" means a college which conducts courses leading to a degree of the University;
4. (4) "Head Master" means the head of a secondary school;
5. (5) "Hostel" means a place of residence for students of the University maintained or recognised by the University, either as a part of or separate from a college;
6. (6) "Principal" means the head of a college;
7. (7) "Recognised Institution" means an institution recognised by the University under the provisions of this Act;
8. (8) "Registered Graduate" means a graduate registered under the provisions of this Act;
9. (9) "Secondary School" means a school imparting secondary education;
10. (10) "Secondary Teachers" means such teachers as are imparting instruction in secondary schools;
11. (11) "Teachers" means professors, readers, lecturers and such other persons imparting instruction or supervising research in the University or in any college or institution maintained by the University as may be declared to be teachers by the Statutes;
12. (12) "Teachers of University" means teachers appointed or recognised as such by the University for imparting instruction on its behalf;
13. (13) "University" means the North Gujarat University constituted under this Act.
