Penalty for injury, to, or removal of marks

The Deputy Commissioner may order any person found to be guilty before him or wilfully erasing, removing; or damaging a boundary or survLy mark to pay such sum, not exceeding fifty rupees, for each mark so erased, removed or damaged as may be necessary to restore it, and to reward, if necessary, the person through whom the information' was obtained. When such o.m cannot be recovered, or if the'offender cannot be discovered, the Deputy Commissioner shall restore tire mark and recover the cost thereof from such of the Bhumidhars or Gaon Sabhas of co-terminus fields or villages, as Ihe case may be, as he thinks fit.
