Power to make Statutes

  1. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes may provide for all or any of the following matters:
    • (a) the constitution, powers and duties of the authorities or other bodies of the Vishwavidyalaya as may be constituted from time to time;
    • (b) the appointment, terms and conditions of office, powers and duties of the Officers of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (c) the designation and the powers of the officers and the powers and duties of the authorities and bodies of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (d) the classification and the method of appointment of teachers and other staff of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (e) the reservation of posts and seeking to promote the interests of the Schedule Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and other socially and educationally backward classes and other categories of persons;
    • (f) the terms and conditions of service of officers and other staff of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (g) the holding of convocations to confer degrees and diplomas;
    • (h) the conferment of honorary degrees;
      • (i) the institution of pension, provident fund, insurance or welfare fund for the benefit of the officers, teachers and other staff of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (j) the maintenance of the accounts and the audit of the accounts of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (k) the procedure to be followed at meetings of the authorities and conduct of the business of the authorities and other bodies of the Vishwavidyalaya;
    • (l) all other matters which by this Act are to be, or may be, provided for by the Statutes.
  2. (2) The first Statutes shall be made by the State Government and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
